Story Chaity

Chaity is a 8 years old naughty girl. Her first year of life was full of problems. Her parents feared for her life because she had pneumonia, high fever and epilepsy. When she was three years old her mother brought her to the day care center in Ghior.  Chaity was like a floppy expressionless doll.

Chaity received medicine for her epilepsy and that helped her a lot. She learned to walk, dress and wash herself and eat independently. But she was absorbed in a world of her own and it was difficult to include her in the activities or to get a smile on her face. Until one day, when a new student called Nushrat joined the class. There was an instant click with the new girl and Chaity gently began to communicate with body language. It turned out that in addition to Down syndrome she also had a hearing impairment. By offering communication through sign language, she became involved in the activities and she opened her world. The quiet and withdrawn girl became a naughty young mischief maker.

Together with her mother she learns sign language through various themes, her vocabulary and communication grow slowly. Chaity likes her school.
