Story Alif

With a broad smile on his face Alif is playing with his friends. Nobody seems to notice that he sits in a wheelchair and that his right arm and leg are missing…..

Two years ago the picture was totally different. When five years old, Alif entered the CRCD school in Golapnagor. He was lonely, shy and hardly able to move about without help. Alif had one big dream though: he wanted to go to school just like his village friends. The visiting field team arranged a wheelchair for him. Also, at the village and at the school a lengthy and tedious discussion took place about the rights of disabled children. Finally he received a government allowance and was admitted to the school. The children in the neighborhood and at school learned how to help him and how to adapt their children’s games to allow their new friend Alif to join in.

Now Alif is in the middle of the action and is popular and well-liked by all. And of course he also has new dreams: finish school, learn to speak English and get a job at Niketan!
